Description: An alkali metal alumino-silicate, in the calcium form of the Type A crystal structure. Type 5A will adsorb molecules with critical diameters up to 5 Å angstroms. All molecules which can be adsorbed on Molecular Sieve types 3A and 4A can be adsorbed on Type 5A.

 

Applications: Multi-purpose. Used for the dehydration and purification of various hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon gas and liquid streams. It is used for the separation of straight and branched chain hydrocarbons, sweetening and drying of natural gases and the production of high purity hydrogen.

 

Regeneration: Type 5A molecular sieve can be regenerated for re-use by purging or evacuating at elevated temperatures. The degree of regeneration (water removal) is dependent on the temperature and humidity of the purge gas.
 
 

Handling and Storage: Product must be stored in a dry location (relative humidity < 90%) to prevent re-adsorption of water. Opened packages should be resealed to prevent contamination of the product. Whenever possible, rotate stock to use oldest material first.
